In part 1 of 3 of Pamela Nance’s near-death experiences, American healer Pamela shares how her first near-death experience came just before her sixth birthday — and how years later, she died twice in one morning, reunited with her beloved Rottweiler companion under the Tree of Life, and was taken by a Buddhist monk guide through a heavenly garden between lives.
Pamela grew up in a Southern Baptist community in North Carolina, USA, raised near the ancient, quartz-filled Pilot Mountain — a place she would return to spiritually for years. Her first near-death experience came just before her sixth birthday, when she contracted a severe case of red measles. Her parents kept vigil over her for days, washing her with cool water to bring her temperature down.
At her most gravely ill, Pamela asked her father if she was dying. He scooped her up, assured her she was not, and laid her back on the pillow. She closed her eyes — and when she opened them, the ceiling had disappeared.
And I could see the blue sky, these white fluffy clouds. And in the midst of that scene, there was a brilliant Light, and from that middle of that Light, a hand reaching down to me. And I took the hand and was just swept away, up through the air, into this brilliant white Light, guided by this hand that I was clinging to. And the Light slowly dissipated, and I found myself standing, still holding the hand of this brilliantly lit Being who appeared to be a male. But the Light was so bright, I could barely envision Him. But the Light slowly dissipated, and I saw just this loving, wonderful Spirit looking down at me. And He just sort of waved His hand in front — like, “Let’s walk forward.”
And we were on a well-worn path, going into an ancient village. And there were homes on either side of the path that were like made from mud and rock, and little fenced-in yards, but very nicely kept. But even at that young age, I could tell that I was no longer in modern times. It looked very ancient and biblical. And I even thought that this Spirit being that was holding my hand was Jesus. But we walked forward further into this village, looking into the yards, these pretty flowers growing, and animals grazing nearby, and people tending their gardens, but we stopped at one of the homes, and there was a connection with this family. They were in the yard, and there was also a young girl that I made eye contact with, and I just felt just like a connection, like they were my family. The same way I felt about my family, my physical family, I felt that way about these people I was seeing in this ancient village. And as soon as I had that thought, I looked at the Man whose hand I was holding, and He nodded His head as though He was agreeing with what I was thinking. And I was pulled back from that scene, back through this brilliant Light.
Pamela recovered and, during her convalescence outdoors, discovered she could leave her body and fly toward Pilot Mountain like a bird — an ability she practiced for four years. At 16, a difficult tonsillectomy produced an out-of-body experience in the recovery room, where she floated above her body and watched her family pray at her bedside. These experiences set Pamela on a decades-long study into higher consciousness, energy healing, numerology, and metaphysics. She went on to earn a dual major in anthropology and sociology.
It was nearing the end of her senior year of college in April 1990 — a high-pressure time of final exams and double restaurant shifts — when Pamela’s stomach ulcer perforated. She felt a small pop on Friday night and, when the pain suddenly stopped, assumed she was getting better. But by Sunday morning, after more than 30 hours of internal bleeding, she collapsed at home and stopped breathing. Her husband called 911, and began CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) Pamela says that was the last thing she remembered of the Earthly realm.
I was surrounded like again in this brilliant white Light. And when the Light dissipated, I was standing on top of a snowcapped mountain range, this incredible, beautiful, majestic mountain range. And off in the distance, across a green valley, was another equally as beautiful mountain range. Snowcapped, expansive. The sky above was just this incredible deep blue color — the deep blue of, like, when you see some of the space shots that are entering outer space, that deep, deep blue, that’s what the sky looked like. And in between these two mountain ranges was this incredibly green valley, just this beautiful emerald green valley. And in the midst was a gigantic, massive tree that just pulled me in and spoke to me. And when I saw it, I knew that it was the Tree of Life. That’s what it said to me. And it beckoned me to come to it.
But as Pamela approached the Tree of Life, an even more personal moment was waiting for her beneath its branches. In Part 2, she shares the overwhelming love she felt there, the friend who came out to meet her, and the second time she left her body that morning. And the animals slowly parted, and from out of the midst of these animals came my Rottweiler, Holly. Join us tomorrow for Part 2 of 3 of Pamela Nance’s near-death experiences.
