You know the saying – when life gives you lemons, make lemonade! Well, I have another tip when you have excess lemons – freeze them! Frozen lemons not only contain immune-boosting and detoxifying properties but also provide digestive and metabolic support. They can be stored up to a maximum of three months and still retain their flavor and nutrients. What’s nice is you can utilize the entire lemon to slice, grate, or blend, leaving behind no waste. You can freeze organic lemons by first washing and drying them thoroughly. Put whole lemons in a freezer-safe bag or airtight glass container and freeze them overnight or until they’re solid. When they’re ready to be used, grate the entire frozen lemon including the peel, pith, and pulp, directly into your dish or beverage. They act as a natural preservative since the acidity helps prolong the freshness of other ingredients when used in recipes. You can also cut them into thin wheels for tea, infused water, or blend them into sauces or smoothies to add a citrus punch.
