(You said that it is better to leave home and practice than to get married. How about the practitioners combining in a pure state, maintaining a married life while practicing? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this compared to leaving home?) (He said Master has emphasized that it is better to practice as a renunciate than to practice at home. What if he marries a fellow initiate and they practice together. Which one is better?) I didn’t say that leaving home to practice spiritually is better. If you want to be a renunciate, then become a renunciate. If you want to get married, then get married. It’s up to you. You see they aren’t renunciates, yet they’re practicing well. At least they have reached the Astral Level, which is the First Realm. If you leave home, the highest you can reach is only the Fifth Realm. Nothing special.

(Thank You, Master.) (He thanks Master very much.) (There is someone in Korea who has attained enlightenment and would like to meet You. How about You?) (He said that in Korea there is an enlightened saint who would like to meet with Master. Is it possible?) OK. He is welcome. Ask him to come to my hotel where I stay. Tomorrow. Tomorrow. (Thank You.) (Thank You.) Do you know where it is? (Where is the condo located?) (He knows where we stay.) OK, good, good, good. Tomorrow about… not too early. Maybe about 10 AM. Or 12 noon, OK? Let’s make it at 12 noon. I like spiritual practitioners very much. I respect them, regardless of what method they practice. What’s important is sincerity. Anyone who sincerely practices his method, I respect very much.

(To save time, I’m going to speak in English.) Yes. (It is about my occupation.) (I have a small factory) Yes. (producing larva chemicals...) Yes? (chemical growth used in larva chemistry and…) (Larva.) Oh, yes, yes. (Larva chemistry.) Yes, yes. (But the raw material is fish[-people] oils. Yesterday I felt that to use fish[-people] oils is no good for my spiritual training.) It’s no good? (Yes.) You feel it’s no good? (Yes.) And then? (Then, Master, I change my occupation…) Can you change? (But there are some problems to my family and to my employees and to my customers.) Understand. (So, suddenly to stop is…) (Yes. Many problems occur.) OK. (So, I’m going to change step by step.) Yes, yes. That’s very good. If you don’t feel good in your conscience, you change until you find a better opportunity, a better one for your family and for your employees. But you have to find a better one first.

I’m happy that you have such an attitude and at least you know something and feel very that you’re very sensitive to this issue. And this shows that your level is not very low. And it is good for you to understand what you’re doing. Even though you’re forced to do it, but you don’t make excuses for yourself. And that is very important. The important thing is that we do not commit any wrong things deliberately, and we do not have a very bad, I mean wicked, we don’t have a wicked intention and deliberately want to harm other sentient beings. Just that the situation is like that, and you were already in it before you came to me. So, it concerns many lives, not only yourself. Therefore, you find a better job, a better opportunity for all these people. That is alright. It’s OK. You can sit down.

(Could a sexual relationship between husband and wife affect their practice of the Quan Yin Method?) Is it OK? (Does the husband-and-wife relationship have any influence on practicing the Quan Yin Method?) It makes you very tired. Then you doze off during meditation. And so you have to regulate it. How to say “regulate”? (Regulate.) Regulate. OK.

(Here, as a precaution, You said not to mix it with other methods but to practice only the Quan Yin Method. Is that because it is the best method? Or... I think what You are saying here is based on the Śūraṅgama Sūtra. It seems like You are talking about MyoshimMyungChae [attaining enlightenment and liberation through spiritual practice] in the YiGeunWonTong [eliminating ignorance and vexation through listening to the inner Sound, thus reaching the state of absolute tranquility]. If so, the Śūraṅgama Sūtra explains about the method based on the Dharani [mantra], mantra practice at the last part. I would like to ask whether it is acceptable to practice the Dharani, or whether yoga is also acceptable, or whether practicing both together is acceptable?) (He said that in the Precautions section, it says not to mix other methods together with the Quan Yin Method to practice. Is it because the Quan Yin Method is the highest?) Yes, yes. (And in Śūraṅgama Sūtra, it’s also said like this.) Yes, yes. And if we mix too many methods, our attention will be distracted and confused. Like one person riding two bicycles.

(I could meet You because I wanted to attain enlightenment. Is the desire to attain enlightenment during practice also a form of desire that hinders practice?) (She said that she encountered Master because she wanted to get liberation. That’s why she could get this Method. While practicing the Method, if she has this kind of desire, will it obstruct her practice?) Please, if you don’t have this in mind, how can you practice spiritually? Why do you want to practice? Of course, in the beginning you are like this; after you’re liberated, you don’t have to think about it again. You tell her, not all thoughts are obstructive. When we have good thoughts, for example, aspiring for liberation, aspiring for knowing the Truth, these are very good. Because she has just begun to practice, maybe she hasn’t felt clearly that she’s liberated. After practicing for a longer time, she’ll know it, and she’ll not have that kind of thought again, no such aspiration. Take your time. Don’t blame yourself that much.

(You speak six languages and know a lot about various Buddhist scriptures and sutras. I would like to know if You know them naturally because You are wise, or if You have read books or studied them?) (She said that Master can speak six languages and understands all Buddhist sutras and scriptures. Is it coming from Your wisdom or You Yourself had to learn it in order to get these talents?) I also don’t know. Maybe both. I’ve never thought about such complicated matters. I just know what I know, and I learn what I learn. I don’t really care.

(When practicing, if we encounter obstacles or problems in our daily life, we are told to ask Master for help. How do we ask for help? And when it comes to keeping the precepts, we are told to repent. Please let me know if there is a specific method for repentance. How do we do that? How do we ask for help...) (She said that during her practice, if she encounters any problem or obstacle and needs to seek Master’s help, what’s the way to ask for Master’s help? And, if she breaks a precept and wants to repent, how should she repent? With what kind of attitude?) Whichever way is good. As long as it’s good for you. (Sincerely repent to Master.) What you’d say outside, you just say it inside.
