In Part 1 of 3 of Pamela Nance (vegetarian)’s near-death experiences, Pamela shared how a severe case of red measles just before her sixth birthday led to her first glimpse beyond this world, how later out-of-body experiences deepened her spiritual path, and how years afterward, a perforated ulcer caused her to collapse and stop breathing — where she found herself standing atop a snowcapped mountain range, looking across a green valley at the Tree of Life.
And it beckoned me to come to it. And when I had that thought, I was under the tree and just surrounded by its massive branches and the love that was coming from this tree. I felt like it was connecting the Earth to the Heavens. But under the tree, not only was myself, but there were animals. Every animal that you could imagine. Elephants, camels, lions, tigers, all kinds of birds, domestic animals, cats, dogs, the wildlife that we see here in the United States, foxes, raccoons, any animal you can think of was there. And they were just sending me so much love. It’s really hard to describe. People who have near-death experiences say you cannot describe the colors and the feeling, and the oneness with the environment. And you can’t; you really can’t describe it. But it was overwhelming. I knew that this was my like primordial Home. That this is where I belong. That I was not just seeing this scene, but I was part of this scene. I was part of these animals. I was part of that tree. And there was just this cacophony of singing. The birds singing, the animals just singing, just love.
And the animals slowly parted, and from out of the midst of these animals came my Rottweiler, Holly. Backing up to a couple of days prior to this event, my 14-year-old Rottweiler, Holly, had passed. We had taken her to the vet on Thursday, and we knew she was aging out. I just couldn’t leave her alone that night. And I stayed up with her, and she passed away at about 2:00 in the morning. But from the midst of these animals came the Holly that I remembered as a young dog. She was only 2 or 3 years old in this scene. She was shiny. She was vibrant. She was wiggling and wagging her tail and was just so happy to see me. She came running towards me, and I fell on my knees, and I was hugging her and crying because I didn’t think I would ever see her again. And here she is, full of vitality and youth and alive. And she was licking the tears off my face. And it was just this incredible love coming from her.
And I could have stayed in that scene forever, but off in the distance, I could hear my name being called. I was just very resistant to this voice that kept calling me, and it was kind of making me not really angry, but a little perturbed, because I didn’t want to leave this scene. And I would ignore it, but the voice was so insistent, and I started listening, and I recognized that it was my husband calling my name over and over. And then I recognized that there was fear in his voice. And as soon as I had that feeling that he’s afraid, I was pulled back from that scene, away from Holly, away from all the animals, the Tree of Life, the valley, the snowcapped mountains, just pulled back, back, back, and into my body.
Back in her body, Pamela experienced a split consciousness — simultaneously feeling the paramedics applying equipment and watching the scene from above the room. She went into cardiac arrest a second time. Then, she says, she left her physical body completely.
When the Light dissipated, I was standing in this lush green garden, just this thick again emerald green grass under my feet. The garden was treelined, flowers growing along the sides, just this beautiful, incredible garden. And so I walked around exploring, and was led, or felt that I was led, to an area of the garden where there was a rectangular pool that just beckoned me to get in. So I stepped into this pool of water, and I could feel it vibrating like energetically, and I just lay back in this water and floated there, looking up at the sky and the tops of the trees, watching the birds fly over. I’m really not sure how long I was in that pool, but I could feel that it was re-energizing me, giving me vitality, and perhaps healing.
Off to the side, out of my peripheral vision, I could see like a white mist forming. So I looked full on, and the mist just sort of dissipated, and from out of the mist came a monk, a Buddhist monk. He appeared to be in his early 40s. His hair was closely shorn. He had on an orange garment with a sort of this pinkish orange scarf that came down across. His feet were bare, and he came and he sat down on the bench beside me and introduced himself.
But Pamela had not yet learned why she had been shown these realms — or why she could not remain there. In Part 3, she shares the explanation she was given, the emergency surgery that saved her life, and the lasting changes she brought back with her. But I was not meant to stay this time. This was just to show me what awaits me on that other side. Join us tomorrow for Part 3 of 3 of Pamela Nance (vegetarian)’s near-death experiences. (Beyond with Heather Tesch)
