In Part 1 of 2 of Candice Purchase’s near-death experience, South African medium Candice shares how a heart procedure transported her to a realm of pure white Light, where she sat as a child at the feet of what she believes was God.
Candice had been battling serious health problems for years. Born with an undetected hole in her heart, she suffered multiple strokes and pulmonary embolisms before doctors finally identified the condition when she was 30. On March 1, 2010, she underwent a PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale) closure procedure — an operation to seal the hole in her heart — and, unlike typical surgeries, she had to remain awake throughout. Terrified, she lay on the operating table, wanting to ask a male nurse to hold her hand.
The surgeon went in the main artery of my leg, and he fed the device up towards my heart, and in an instant, I was in another space. I could see the whitest, purest white color I had ever seen. And I was just being. I was surrounded by peace and love. And I didn’t have any thoughts. I didn’t have any fears. I was just being. And I found myself sitting at the feet of a big presence. My God, I believe, as I looked up. And the Light was just so bright, and I sensed another presence next to Him also. And when I looked down at myself, it was as if I was a child. And I remember feeling the bottom of His robe in between my fingers. And I vaguely remember His hand coming toward the top of my head. And I find myself back in the room, on the operating table, with the surgeon asking me if I was OK.
I was taken aback a little bit because of the fear I felt before this happened. But when I came back, there wasn’t that fear. He immediately carried on with the procedure, where I did feel some discomfort and some pain in my chest. So I was like, immediately after I came back, I was put in that situation where I could feel discomfort and pain again, like, straight away. So it was such a contrast to where I had just been a few seconds before.
Candice said nothing to the nurse who asked what she had seen and kept the experience entirely to herself for years. She was a mother to young children and channeled all of her energy into recovery and family life. It wasn’t until much later, when she began developing in energy healing and mediumship, that she felt that her guides were nudging her to return to the experience and understand what it had been trying to show her.
When Candice finally allowed herself to go back to the experience, certain feelings rose immediately to the surface. The most powerful feeling and emotion was the love that was felt and the peace that was felt, and me feeling, “Oh, I belong here, like this is Home.” So much love, and just an unbelievable feeling of love, and the color white, the purity, and how we’ve never seen that color white before. It’s the brightest, brightest white color, and just a feeling of being at absolute peace, like no thinking, no fears, no worries. Your mind is completely still, and it just feels like you’re held and surrounded by love. Those are the strongest emotions that I remember feeling.
Candice believes that moment at the feet of God was not only a glimpse of Home — it was also the beginning of a deeper understanding of why she was sent back, and what she was meant to do with the life she still had left to live. I do not fear death now, because I know where we are going. We all go to the same beautiful space of love and peace, where we belong, and we are held. Join us tomorrow for Part 2 of 2 of Candice Purchase’s near-death experience. (Tales Of Resilience)
