Relationship breakdowns rarely happen overnight. According to couples’ counselor Karen Doherty, long-term partnerships tend to erode slowly through repeated patterns, unspoken expectations and the pressures of modern life. With shifting social norms and rising individualism reshaping how people connect, maintaining a relationship now requires more conscious effort than ever. Ms. Doherty has distilled her experience into 10 principles she says can help couples strengthen their bond and avoid the slow drift that leads to separation. 1. Treat the relationship like an ongoing project that needs regular attention as life changes. 2. Recognize counterproductive recurring patterns. 3. Stop assuming your partner thinks the same way you do. 4. Be explicit about needs and expectations. 5. Create a shared “couple deal,” documenting their individual needs, shared needs and family expectations. 6. Invest in daily connection. 7. Avoid drifting into parallel lives. 8. Learn how each of you responds to stress. 9. Become comfortable with difference. 10. Take ownership of your role in the dynamic. Taken together, these principles reflect Ms. Doherty’s core message: strong relationships don’t rely on luck or perfect compatibility, but on awareness, communication and a willingness to evolve together over time (The i Paper)

Inspiring quote of the day: “Knowledge is only one half. Faith is the other.” – Novalis German Aristocrat and Polymath (BrainyQuote)
In this multipart series of Reverend Camille Gent’s near-death experience, American minister Camille shares how she descended through the realms of hell, saw satan, was rescued by God Himself, and was then taken to Heaven — where she met the children she had lost through miscarriage, saw the Father gently stroking a white lion beside His throne, and was taken by the hand above the Earth. Camille had her first brush with death as a baby at just six weeks old, when she had open-heart surgery and a brief near-death experience in which she heard the words “not yet” before being pulled back into her body.
She committed her life to Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian) at age 12 but later fell away, struggling with alcohol, adultery, and broken relationships. In 2003, after her life had fallen apart, she cried out to God to change her from the inside out. Then, during a fast in 2007, she had an open vision at Lord Jesus Christ’s feet that changed her. But in 2008, after she was drugged and violently assaulted, Camille blamed God, fell back into sin, and eventually entered an unhappy marriage.
By 2012, Camille’s health began to fail. She developed severe swelling and pain throughout her body, and doctors told her that her heart was failing so badly that, without a transplant, she would likely be dead within a year. The diagnosis shook her awake. She gave up alcohol and drew closer to God. But over the next six months, her condition only worsened. She could barely see, hear, or walk, and by March 2013, after three days of what she thought was the flu, she began passing blood and told her husband to call emergency services. By the time the ambulance arrived, Camille says she could no longer speak. During the hospitalization that followed, Camille says doctors found massive pulmonary embolisms and determined that she had suffered countless strokes. Her condition also involved complete organ shutdown, blood infections, full-blown sepsis, and three comas — ultimately costing Camille her left leg and right toes.
In Part 1, Camille begins with the moment she says she started slipping between life and death — and descending toward hell. They estimate I died during my third coma. My third coma, my blood pressure, my diastolic, the bottom number went to zero, and they had to resuscitate me. I went to Heaven and hell during my first coma. And I knew that because, as I was sitting in my house, still waiting for the ambulance to come, I started descending. I would like to come back and forth. But I started descending, and as I’m descending, I know I’m going to hell, first of all, and second of all, I knew I deserved it because of my sin.
So, as I’m falling, I remember every single nightmare that I ever had on Earth that I had left unspoken, because they were so embarrassing to admit or horrific. Every single one happened on the way to hell. So, a lot of people have said the same thing, where you’re in like holographic universes, almost, where I would recognize people, even that were tormenting me, but I knew they weren’t people for some reason. I knew that they were demonic.
As they’re grabbing me, and I’m descending, I’d be shoved into a realm. I’ve always called them “realms” since I came back. I don’t know why, but I’d be shoved into a realm, tormented beyond belief. Every realm, every time I got closer to hell, was worse. Way worse. And then, when they were done with me, because you have no free will. So, you have absolutely no free will. So, these demons and other beings, whatever they were, I saw all kinds of creatures. They would horrifically abuse me, and then they would all of a sudden be done, and I’d be shoved into this black, and I’ve always said blacker than black. And I found the word in the Word. I found the word was “outer darkness.” So the “outer darkness, where there is gnashing of teeth.”
I remember I had 12 demons assigned to me, and they were literally, they were smaller. They were green, and they could stretch their entire beings, and they were literally stretching their bodies to try to get me into hell first. And I knew, instinctually, that whoever got me into hell first was going to receive a reward from satan himself. But satan was to my right. And again, it was so black, but you could still see him because he was even — I don’t know how, but he was somehow blacker than that. So, he could stand out a little bit. So I would just hear the most evil demonic voice I’ve ever heard, and he would be saying, “Just get her down here. She’ll never know she doesn’t belong.” And he was right.
In Part 2, Camille says the torment only grew worse as she was dragged closer to hell — until, just as she believed there was no escape, God Himself intervened. And then, that’s when I said to myself, “I guess I’m going to hell now.” And as soon as I said that, the God of all Creation, the Maker of everything — He comes and stands above us. Join us tomorrow for Part 2 of a multipart series of Reverend Camille Gent’s near-death experience. (God Encounters with Janie DuVall)
