In this two-part series on Julie Cluff’s near-death experience, the American spiritual medium describes how, during a devastating car accident, she heard a protective voice, rose above the wreck, and entered a peaceful mountain meadow where she encountered Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian) Nearly 20 years ago, on Mother’s Day in 2007, Julie was driving her three youngest children east across the US from their home in Texas to visit their grandparents. About halfway through the afternoon, although she had not felt tired, she suddenly awoke in the median between the eastbound and westbound lanes. She realized she had fallen asleep at the wheel. When she tried to steer the SUV back onto the road, it began to roll. Her two youngest children, David, 8, and Carrie, 10, were thrown from the vehicle and were later found to have died. Her 12-year-old son, James, was in the front seat beside her and was injured, while Julie herself suffered only minor injuries but was in total shock.
As the car started rolling, Spirit spoke to me. I had a voice in my head that said, “Bring your arm in.” I have no idea how I paid attention to that voice, but I did. I brought my arm in, and it saved my arm. Julie later realized that she had been knocked unconscious during the rollover. Only afterward did memories from those missing moments begin to return. My consciousness rose above the accident in a near-death-like experience, where I was with my two children as they departed. When the SUV came to rest, Julie’s first memory was of being aware but unable to see. Her vision soon returned, and she saw David and Carrie far from the vehicle. When ambulances arrived, the two children were taken to one hospital, while Julie and James were transported to another. There, medical staff examined her for internal injuries and broken bones as she lay on a rigid trauma backboard. As I lay on that Stryker board, my humanness was in complete panic, complete overwhelm. It’s just hard to explain all the confusion and the overwhelm and the terror of the experience. And at that point, not knowing whether my children were alive or dead— While she remained in the emergency room, still awaiting news of her children, Julie says her awareness shifted into an entirely different space.
I had what I can only describe as an out-of-body-type experience, where I was transported into this field of flowers. It was a mountain meadow, and there were distant mountains. But Jesus, Who I call Yeshua now, was standing with me in this field, holding my hands, looking into my eyes, like we were standing face to face. And there were no words exchanged. It was just this immense peace. There was no accident during that space. There was no chaos in that space. It was just like you’re in this bubble of complete security, comfort, love. It’s just all-encompassing. It wasn’t long after that vision that Julie learned her children had passed. The peace of that meadow, however, could not shield her from what followed. She described the next three years as a kind of hell— consumed by self-hatred, post-traumatic stress disorder, and complicated grief. Watching those around her mourn David and Carrie made the burden feel even heavier.
All I could see was, “I’m the cause of this. I’m the cause of this.” It was horrendous. During those years, Julie felt guilty about how grief had transformed life for her two teenage sons, including James, who had survived the accident. Then, amid her self-condemnation, she heard Spirit tell her, “Julie, this is their experience too.” She understood that her sons’ lives after David and Carrie’s passing were part of a plan they had agreed to before birth.
In Part 2, Julie shares the encounter that convinced her she was meant to tell her story— and the choice she believes she made before coming here. And I have this understanding that I was given a choice. Carrie would only live for so many years. David would only live for so many years. And do you want to be the mom under those circumstances? Join us tomorrow for Part 2 of Julie Cluff’s extraordinary story. (Round Trip Death YouTube channel)
