Many of our Association members had the great fortune to participate in the 1995 S.M. Celestial Clothes Fashion Show, either as part of the audience or as supporting staff. In our show today, we will continue to hear some of their stories and insights on the Celestial fashion show and Supreme Master Ching Hai’s ethereal designs. “(My involvement [in the fashion show] started from the preparation period. In my opinion, Master not only pays attention to designs, but also pays attention to tailoring. She noticed every detail, from the cutting and splicing the fabric, to the sewing technique, and even the needle pitch, like 0.25 cm, or 0.254 cm. She specified everything. It means that She is more than a designer. She oversaw the tailoring and process of making the clothes to ensure they met the international standard; the standard used by countries in Europe and America. Van Gogh mixed and matched bright colors to create special vibrations. We can see similar applications in Master’s art creations. She chooses vibrant colors and painting-like fabrics, adds decorations, and tailors to achieve an overall look. Looking at a piece of S.M. Celestial clothing is like looking at a painting, and we can feel a kind of vibration from it that goes out to the world.)” “(After the first and second show, many visitors came out crying. A lot of them cried. I think it’s because S.M. Celestial Clothes are Heavenly inspired, so when people saw them, they were reminded of their True Home and longed to go back after reincarnating on the Earth for a long time. That’s why they were moved to tears. So in a way, the S.M. Celestial Clothes Fashion Show was more than just a clothing exhibition, it was a great spiritual awakening event.)” “(It has been 26 years since the worldwide S.M. Celestial Clothes Fashion show, but its influence is like a whirlwind that’s still spinning around the world, and up to the present - its echo never seems to end. It has brought about changes in many of us too, such as uplifting our aesthetic sense and perception. Moreover, apart from the improvement on the outer appearance, our inner spiritual level has been elevated too, along with steady progress.)”

Throughout the 1995 S.M. Celestial Clothes fashion tour, Supreme Master Ching Hai took every opportunity to thank the models and supporting staff, and treated them with boundless love and utmost respect. “And you know, for just a few moments for our enjoyment, they have to endure a lot of hectic schedule and tiredness, and different timing. It’s different when you have a fashion show. They are very humble, very humble, and hard workers.” “Many people watched the shows and praise me that I have talent, and I have taste. But they should know, it is God who gives me all the inspiration. And whatever I can do to beautify the world, I shall do if Hes instructs me. And as long as God wants me to do whatever to elevate the suffering in this world, I will continue to do it. And I will never remember all the names. But God knows because God works through them.” “They were beyond modeling. They were just representing themselves and their true beauty came out. Respected, and really loved and enjoyed. For the first time, they felt that their job is really noble. I said, ‘God has bestowed beauty upon you. You should treasure it, and use it to beautify the world and to give enjoyment to other people in the purest sense of enjoyment.’” “(From the first moment to the end, I was in awe; in awe seeing the diversity of the creations, the elegance, and the beauty in the simplicity of the collection. It was a pure delight! A visual delight!) (It actually blew my mind. The etheric figures that floated off the stage as if they had come straight down from Heaven.) (I have never seen anything in the world like the fashion that night. And the models, as they walked, the color on the outside, we'd say, was red, but when they walked, part of their dress opened, another color was on the inside. It could have been gold or green.) (They were not only moved to tears on the stage, but also ate vegetarian food. Later, the models all adored Master. Standing behind Master, the faces of the models were glowing, as if they were bathing in Heavenly Bliss.)”

During the 1995 S.M. Celestial Clothes Fashion Show, Supreme Master Ching Hai held several conferences with journalists and discussed Her original design concepts in great detail. She spoke of Her choice of fabrics and the special occasions that called for certain pieces of clothing in Her life.“One design but two purposes. For example, this one is for conservative ladies, or a little bit elderly lady. And therefore, you see all the legs are covered with one piece of attached vegan silk inside. And if someone is a little bit younger and more lively, with a beautiful figure, she would probably like to show off what God has bestowed upon her. So, probably we would take this part away, and then she can show her leg. It’s attached from inside. You can wear it, or you can take it away. It depends on the occasion and depends on the taste of the individual.This is for golfing, in different colors, like, navy blue and white, and turquoise and white trousers, and bright yellow and white trousers. I don’t design it in green or red, because red is too hot for sport, and green is all over on the golf course already, for example. These are for sport, therefore, the color is also carefully chosen. Can you notice all these holes here, or it’s window? There’s a window open everywhere, for cooling effect, for ventilating. You don’t have to play golf in it, you can also walk or jog around, or take the children to kindergarten even, but in a fast way.This is Arab. Arab piece. I also wore this one day. One day, I had the honor of receiving an award in Chicago. Some of the dresses, the technique never had been made before. For example, the effect is very soft, it’s because I mixed the color, one stripe, one stripe, it’s not the same color even though it looks all blue. And inside is slightly different, and shiny with kind of rainbow color, and inside is velvet. So all the effects combined together make this look mysterious. Otherwise, it’s not the same. “(What kind of relationship between Your fashion design and spiritual practice? Because it’s totally different style.) It’s not different. Every practitioner wants to arrive at the Truth, Beauty, and Virtue. So, beauty is one of the things that we search [for] all our life. Actually, you remember Chinese Zen masters, many did calligraphy. Or painted different pictures. To praise Heaven. I do too. All my music is praising Heaven. All my poetry is praising Buddha Nature. So, I think I am expressing Buddha Nature in a different way.” “We help with the disasters. We give millions of dollars away from our own earnings, honest earnings and living. So, the fashion show is not only for beauty but also… I make a living, then I can give to other people. Don’t make [a] mistake and thinking that money is only for the mundane people, and the practitioners should not. No, no no no, no. No. If the practitioner of the positive nature doesn't accumulate wealth in order to distribute to the needy, then we kind of practically offer the wealth and the power, political power, economic power to the negative force. To the representative of the negativity. Therefore, we must work, harder than ever, harder than before we became vegans or meditators.” Following the success in London, Supreme Master Ching Hai brought Her S.M. Celestial Clothes Fashion Show to Paris, France. “(I suppose You have people working for You and making the models.) You mean the clothes? (Yes.) I created them. Yes, yes, everything. Even the knot, this one, I made myself. I have to put it on the model and made it exactly where it is. If here, you put it here, different.” The next day after the press conference, Supreme Master Ching Hai accepted an exclusive interview with Mr. Didier de Plaige from Radio Ici & Maintenant! “We have two main types of mediation. One is contacting with the inner (Heavenly) Light and another contacting with the (inner Heavenly) Sound - both symbolize God-Realization. The more we contact with these, the wiser we become, the more harmony, more peace and loving kindness we have.”

The 1995 S.M. Celestial Clothes Fashion Show garnered much media attention at the time and was covered by many newspapers and magazines. “The Newcomers News” of New York did a comprehensive coverage on the event with the headline, “Reluctant to Stay Only in Heaven, the Rainbows Manifest as Resplendent Attire to Glorify the World; The Supreme Master Ching Hai's S.M. Celestial Clothes Fashion Show Has Caused a Great Sensation in New York.” On this event, “Tin Tức News” of Paris reported: “Master Ching Hai is seeking to express ‘the harmony within and without,’ so She created a revolution in the field of clothing lining by choosing high quality fabrics for it.”As the fashion show travelled from city to city, generating great interest from the public at each event, Supreme Master Ching Hai accepted interviews, held press conferences, gave seminars, and also attended vegan after-show parties where She took the opportunity to talk about Her thoughts on Her designs and expounded on the topic of spiritual practice when the questions arose. “(From a religious perspective, many people may wonder why a nun still wears clothes that are so fashionable?) It depends on what you do. If you're crossing your legs and practicing spiritually in the mountain with only a few disciples around, enjoying the bliss of nirvana, then you certainly don’t have to do anything. But I need to be in contact with the world, if I want to help a lot of people. I just think that we should be in touch with people. That’s all. But our Self-nature should remain the same all the time. Yes. Our Self-nature shouldn’t depend on clothes to show greatness, tranquility or purity.”Sometimes it comes from inside, mostly. I call them fairy clothes, because I think it’s the fairy who gives me the inspiration. I think I myself cannot do anything except from the Father, from the Original Power, from the Buddha Nature, that inspired me and gives me this talent. So, anything I create, I call them Heavenly products. Heavenly jewelry, for example.(I’m going to ask You, what do You feel right now, as the Being that You are, is one of the most important things that people need to know right now, the road to, or evolve to, or whatever?) Well, I think just as the fashion, if there’s no person behind the fashion, then the clothes are not so meaningful. Similarly, if there’s no awareness within each of us, of the being, then I think we are just like the empty clothes. So, the most important thing is to strive to remember who we really are, the greatness that we truly possess, and not the material life, or the material garment, or things that we are possessing right now, and identify ourselves. This is not the Truth.”

The one-of-a-kind fashion show that Supreme Master Ching Hai brought to the world crossed cultural boundaries and transcended time, with designs ranging from modern working outfits, outdoor sporting attire, and glamorous evening gowns of Eastern and Western flair. A liberal use of dark or light-colored chiffon decorates the neckline and the hemline of the skirt. A unique feature of this gown is the six viscose scarfs fastened to the skirt with thick viscose bands. Evening Gowns in Viscose: Two-toned chiffon is used in the bust and at the waist. A piece of chiffon draped over one shoulder adds gracefulness. A high slit on the left side facilitates movement. It also reveals the exquisite contrasting color of the lining.“Some journalist asked me why I'm doing fashion shows because I am a spiritual, so-called teacher. He told me these 2 things are not related to each other. I said, ‘They do, they do.’ Because truth, beauty and virtue are the expressions of God so we cannot say that beauty is not related to spiritual, because I know it for myself. Before I practiced meditation or I tried to contemplate the inner nature of our Self, I could not design all these things. I could not paint. I didn't even know the difference between the oil color and olive oil, the oil you know, you paint. But after I tried to seek the ‘Kingdom of God,’ then everything comes. I hope we, the meditation practitioners, continue to contribute to the world; spiritually blessing as well as beautifying the world and helping the world, helping the poor, the needy, the younger brothers and sisters in different ways. And no need to say, what is spiritual and what is not. Everything is spiritual as long as you are spiritual.And I have enjoyed their company so much. Every time I watch them, I feel God is with us. I feel God express Hirmself in the beautiful creatures; like humans, like men and women, like flowers, like diamonds, gold and all the beautiful things that are comforting to our souls and pleasant to our eyes. I'm just one of the contributors to express the love of God, to express the beauty from inside and make it come out.Anyhow, we have brought the sun for you, right, tonight, the sun and the moon through these beautiful celestial beings, Godly beings. I think inside them is God, that’s why they are so beautiful. God is beauty, truth and goodness. That's what we try to do in this life, to be near God, to be a representative of God. And all the things you have seen, I dedicated them to God and everything else I do as well.”

At an international gathering in Youngdong, Korea, Master lamented on the modern life we are living now. There is much material comfort but is still lacking something more meaningful. Master invited us to re-connect with our nature's gentle and poetic side. “So I do not know whether we have forsaken our poetic nature, our romantic inherent inner beauty, or what have we done to ourselves. Nowadays most of the time, we think more of finance, we think more of the material comfort than the caretaking of our inside beauty, or even our own representation outside of the inner beauty, such as nice clothes, such as walking with dignity and manner, such as talking with gentleness and sweetness. So next time if you go on a retreat, or if you come to see me sometimes, you can put on your beautiful dress, yeah? I mean, bring one, bring one, at least. It won't hurt to bring one. It doesn't have to be expensive, OK? It can be any color that you like. Just when you put it on, you feel soft, you feel gentle, you feel romantic, you feel very, very poetic, feel like a fairy, an angel, feel like we are in a celestial world.”Evening Gowns: With multi-layers of rippling rainbow colored chiffon stitched to the sides of the dress, this ingenious design reminds us of the wings of angels. And so when they have a party, all people are required, and obliged to wear decent fashion clothes. So from then on, I have to design something, to suit the occasion, to make myself one of them, and not [to] stand out like a sore thumb, and make ‘I am holier than thou’ kind of picture, you know what I mean? To some extent, they also remind us of our ethereal Home and rekindle some nostalgic feelings within us, so we may seek an elevating way to reach our true origin.” From March 13 to March 17, 2019 the “United Peaceful World” Art Exhibition was held at Seoul’s Naru Art Center. On display were Supreme Master Ching Hai’s beautiful artworks, as well as works by renowned painters from both the northern and southern regions of Korea; symbolizing a harmonious world. “Seeing these paintings on the dome ceiling, I felt blissful, as if I were in Heaven. “As a Buddhist, I’ve searched for heavenly color, sound, and shapes. I’ve seen a lot of it here today.” Over the last two decades, our Association members have brought the exquisite Celestial Jewelry series, designed by Supreme Master Ching Hai, to various countries, such as Thailand, Singapore, France, and Switzerland….

Sometimes, sickness, disasters, or separation from loved ones will awaken a person to the ephemeral nature of life. Suddenly, they are unable to find joy in many things that used to delight them, and start to question the true meaning of their existence. We would like to introduce you to the main character Nam, as he embarks on his own spiritual journey. “Cherished one, Although I will not be able to accompany you on the Earthly path anymore, I will always think of you and pray that you will find true happiness. On today’s program, we’re delighted to feature some of these events. “The Celestial Art Exhibitions” at the premier of Loving the Silent Tears, the Musical, 2012. “Absolutely wonderful! It’s like fantasyland.” Our next stop is Taiwan, also known as Formosa. Celestial Art exhibitions in Taiwan (Formosa). “Although I have never met Supreme Master, through Her images and Her art works, I can perceive Her great love for Earth. She is a spiritual Master who is also a humanitarian.”

Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, is considered to be the most sacred holiday in the Jewish faith. Yom Kippur, has three important components: Teshuvah(Repentance), Fasting, and Prayer. Yom Kippur, although a solemn holiday, provides an inexplicable joy for the sincere observer. It is a time for spiritual cleansing and renewal. Those who take this very personal and special journey undergo self-reflection and spiritual growth. At the end of Yom Kippur, many feel a sense of inner peace knowing that they have reconciled with others, and with God.

Today, September 28, the day also commemorates the birthday of the great sage, Master Confucius. According to Confucius, there are five essential virtues of a true gentleman: benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, and trustworthiness. Among them, benevolence is the central tenet, which means to love all humans and other beings. It also includes animals as indicated in Master Confucius’ vegetarian lifestyle. The Confucian approach to world peace through development of inner virtue, self-cultivation, family harmony, and state governance are a positive influence to the world. In Taiwan (Formosa), the traditional Confucius memorial ceremony has been kept alive. Each year on this day, grand ceremonies dedicated to Master Confucius are held in many places.

In part 1 of our show, Dr.Hari Prasad Pokharel, a Nepalese Naturopathy doctor, writer and pioneer yoga teacher explained to us the different types of teachers and how precious a Sadguru is for humankind's spiritual development. On the same note, Supreme Master Ching Hai also commented as follows on the importance of having a Master and the grace of God in our spiritual practice. " If you have no Master, you don't know God, and you only know God through a Master, because the Master teaches you how to know God."

Today is the full moon day according to the Hindu calendar and an important day for many Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains. It’s Guru Purnima Festival, when they honor their spiritual teachers or gurus. In Sanskrit, guru means someone who removes darkness. In other words, a guru rids the ignorance in our souls and brings spiritual advancement. A master is someone who can expand our wisdom. Such a Sadguru (True Master), who can lead us in every step to a True Path.

Easter is a time to remember and express our heartfelt gratitude to Lord Jesus Christ, who selflessly showed the way to eternal life. God made you and God made me, He made the world for us to see. God loves you and long ago, He sent his Son to tell us so. Jesus showed us many things, To love and share and dance and sing. To learn and pray, to help and care, He promised he’d always be there. He died but then came back to life, let’s celebrate for he’s alive! Amen.
