World Animal Day is celebrated on October 4. The mission for this date is to collectively raise the status of all animal-people in the world. The date was also selected because it is recognized as the feast day of the venerated Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron Saint of animal-people. This venerated Saint is said to have a remarkable relationship with animal-people. A story describes how he once helped a wolf-person to become friends with a town of humans.

World Animal Day is currently recognized by compassionate humans from various countries, cities, and cultures. In 2021, The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) launched a wonderful song in celebration of World Animal Day. Let’s now listen to this uplifting song.

You may be wondering what you can do to celebrate this marvelous day. My suggestion for everyone is to adopt a vegan diet. You can celebrate World Animal Day by visiting a local vegan restaurant and enjoying the fine cuisine. You could also celebrate by going on a vegan shopping spree to fill your pantry with plant-based products. You could even watch a movie or documentary with friends that profiles how veganism saves animal-people and their natural homes. You might also enjoy celebrating this day by visiting an animal-people sanctuary, and learning more about the wonderful animal-people that live there.

In celebrating the beauty of all animal-people on World Animal Day, humans realize that everyone is precious. And with this realization, they come to see that animal-people simply cannot be used as a food source. This is the true gem to be discovered on this day.

This sentiment has also been expressed by our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai. Her words may just hold some inspiration for you this World Animal Day. “Help in any way you can. Show your friends the gruesome practice of the animal-people industry; of how we, as humans, lost our humanity, lost our humane quality, lost our compassion, lost our sympathy. We lose everything if we lose love. We lose everything absolutely if we lose compassion and mercy in our heart.”
