Sometimes parents use children’s filiality to control them. It’s also not fair. Even in the worldly law, the national law, any country allows a person above eighteen or above twenty-one to decide what he wants to do. So, mother should let go a little. She can't control you forever. And it's no good for her also to pay too much attention to you and to control you too much, she also is not free. Both are binding together, like this. […]

Next one. (I love You so much.) Thank you. (My mother is very opposed to it [Quan Yin Method]. So I can't tell her that I got initiation or that I go to Seoul Center. And now, even now, she thinks I'm studying at school.) Translate. (Thank You, Master. My mother is very against me [practicing]. And my mother still thinks I’m studying. I cannot say I got initiation. And I cannot say anything to my mother.) (So when I go to the Seoul Center or when I come to see You now, I have to lie that I have to go to the school. And even now, I'm supposed to call my mother by 7:30, but I can't. What am I supposed to do?) (So, whenever I come to Seoul Center for meditation, I have to tell her, for example, I have to go to study. And also, by 7[:30] p.m., I’m supposed to call my mother, but still I didn’t call her. What should I do?) How long it’s already like that? (Since I got initiation, since December last year.) (Last [December].) OK.

What is your mother against? About me? She knows me? (Just unconditional opposition. Yes, she knows You.) (Yes, she knows You.) (She is just against it with her life.) (She’s against her unconditionally. No reason, just against.) Before [you] even followed me. Or because of me? (Because of You.) Because of me. No reason. (Just for no reason at all. Yes.) (Yes, against You.) But why? What did I do? (For no reason at all.) (There is no reason.) That’s funny. You should ask why. You should ask your mother, “Why are you against my Master? What did She do?” “What did She do wrong?” What did I do wrong? When you are against somebody, there must be a reason. No? (I'm usually so scared of my mother, so it's hard for me to tell her.) (I’m usually very scared of my mother, so I cannot say.) OK, this is the reason.

Mother is a little controlling. Has nothing to do with me, I guess. Even 7 o'clock, must call. Suppose don't have a phone, what to do? OK, never mind. Just keep it that way. Be good to her. Be more loving, but not afraid. Try to be more loving, more hugging, do nice things for her, to show her your love. Not just being afraid, have to show love. And once your mother knows that you are a better person, and you are not doing anything wrong, and I am not having a bad influence on you, then she will feel more calm. Some mothers are too worried about kids, some mothers are too controlling, thinking kids, children are just one of the possessions, really don't allow children too much freedom. But try to free yourself.

How old are you? (I am 25.) (Twenty-three.) Twenty-three? (Twenty-five.) Twenty-five and still stay with mother and scared of mother! Gosh! Go get married! Get out! Or become a nun, a monk or something. Tell her, “If you don't be good to me, I’ll shave my head and go for good.” So many temples, many temples in Korea. In Korea, to become [a] monk, nun, very fashionable. My God. No freedom, huh? Twenty-five already, cannot go out anywhere at night? Seven o'clock must call. My God! Your mother is having a little problem. She needs help. Maybe she needs a doctor, a psychiatrist or something. Maybe tell her she should go and talk to a doctor. I don't think you can. If you tell her you go to study, that’s also correct. It’s not lying, you go study with me. But I feel sorry for you. Twenty-five and look like a scared kid, a teenager still. Never mind. Maybe you have a job, and you have another place, and stay with friends, share a room with your friends or something, or have a boyfriend, and then you’re free.

And pray to the Buddha inside that your mother gets better. How many children does your mother have? Only one? Two? Where’s the other one? (In military.) (In military service.) In military? Oh. The son. Older? Older or younger. Son? (Younger.) (Younger son is in military service.) OK. And no father? (I have a father, and I'm worried that she'll get sad or sick if I don't listen to her.) (She has a father. What she is worried about is that if she doesn’t follow her mother, maybe the mother gets sick or… she feels sad about that.) Oh, this is very, very good of her. It’s very filial. You follow as much as you can, but you have to also follow your heart. Be good to your mother, but you have your life also to live. OK?

Sometimes parents use children’s filiality to control them. It’s also not fair. Even in the worldly law, the national law, any country allows a person above eighteen or above twenty-one to decide what he wants to do. So, mother should let go a little. She can't control you forever. And it's no good for her also to pay too much attention to you and to control you too much, she also is not free. Both are binding together, like this. I'm sorry for you. Try to be loving so that she feels more secure, but then you have to know what you want. You are a very good daughter. She should be happy.

I know many parents – similar. They give their children everything, except the freedom to decide. It’s attachment. Attachment is a sickness that has befallen mankind since time immemorial. Just hope you practice more, and your karma becomes better. Your “kar-ma” becomes better. Mama. Your “kar-mama” becomes better. Wow, my God! What a life we have. Don't have mother, have problems. Have mother, more problems. Some people complain they don't have a mother or father. Orphans, pitiful and all that. Some people have a mother, have some problems. Anyone else? OK, I go to see the children. Now you compete with the children.

What? (Thank You very much for being here. I am so grateful for the opportunity to meet You.) (Thank You, Master.) (Could You say that God created this world? And I don’t know if I can ask this question. If God created all of it, who created Hirm?) (Can You say that God created everything, then who, what created God?) Maybe you go ask Hirm. I am not a police [officer]. I cannot ask [Hirm] all Hiers identity, and all this credit card, or whatever. (Then, could I rephrase the question? Could we get the answer who created God through this practice [Quan Yin Method]?) (The last part?) (Who created God; this practice will give us all the ultimate answers, so could we expect to get the answer?) (When you practice the Quan Yin Method, can you know who created God, finally?)

No one. That’s the One who is uncreated, always there, never dies, comes from nowhere, goes nowhere. That's why we call [Hirm] God. (You are fully understood. Thank You, my Master.) Thank you. He understood? Good. (Yes, yes.) Thank you. You see, because if we... Who created God – if there is somebody who created God. Then who created that person? God is the Ultimate. Hes is the infinite Love. When we contact – we feel loved, we feel good. Don't care who created Hirm. As long as Hes is loving and blesses us, it's OK.
