In Shining World Compassion Award News from Âu Lạc (Vietnam)…
Nguyễn Thị Ngọc’s love knows no bounds as she has cared for over a hundred stray dogs and cats with disabilities over the past 6 years. This tender Samaritan handmakes 70 – 80 wheelchairs for animals each month. She then sells them to animal companion guardians to support and encourage them to keep the paralyzed or otherwise injured animals in the home with the family. The funds from the wheelchair sales are used to sustain the animals under her direct care. She also tries to find permanent loving homes for them. Moreover, after completing her work each evening as a motorbike taxi driver, Ms. Nguyễn searches the roads, landfills, and abandoned buildings to locate and feed stray and abandoned animals.
“In the beginning, my difficulty was that my family didn’t want to raise any cats or dogs. If I brought them home, then they waited until I went to work and threw the animals into the streets. Seeing that, I left home and rented a house to raise those animals. The more I cared for them, the more I understood why the paralyzed animals were being abandoned, and no one cared for them. Humans can take care of themselves because when they are hungry, they go to the street and beg for food. But the animals can’t talk, they can only “meow, meow, or woof, woof,” and no one understands. I realized that fact, so I love them and care for them; I can’t abandon them.”
Touched by these kind deeds, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Joyfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Ms. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc, and a grateful small gift of US$10,000 to further her noble work. May the Buddha’s Love fill your good heart and bless you and those you care for.”
Our Association members in Âu Lạc (Vietnam) were delighted to present the Award letter, crystalline plaque, Master’s financial contribution along with Her uplifting publications and DVDs to Ms. Nguyễn. “Using water pipes to make the chair frames, belts to steady the body, and four wheels for mobility, the aids are quite light and facilitate the animal friends’ free movements. You said, ‘When I see them being able to move, not lying down in an unhappy mood because they can’t move, then my heart is full of joy. For me, that is happiness,’ adding that you’ve completely forgotten personal freedoms just so you can spend more time taking care of your treasured furry friends.”
Ms. Nguyễn joyfully received the Award, and had a message for Supreme Master Ching Hai. “I would like to convey to Supreme Master Ching Hai my gratitude, and I truly thank You very much! Those are my sincere and true feelings, because I didn’t think that my work could touch You and create my affinity with You. I am truly very happy today. And on behalf of the animals, I thank You! I am so, so thankful to Supreme Master Ching Hai. I am so happy but don’t know what to say. I wish Supreme Master Ching Hai to have abundant health so that You can create affinity with other homes, other vulnerable animals, like my home here. I thank You again!”
We extend our sincere congratulations to you, Nguyễn Thị Ngọc, for receiving this noble award. We are grateful for your caring dedication to rescuing, feeding and improving the welfare of the animals who need it.

United Kingdom researchers discover possible free-floating Earth-sized planets.
A study led by Dr. Iain McDonald of the University of Manchester, UK, discovered the potential existence of several planets as big as the Earth that are not bound to a host star. The researchers looked at data gathered by the Kepler space telescope in 2016 that was searching for rare gravitational microlensing events. Microlensing refers to a burst of light emitted by a background star when another star passes in front of it. Some events detected were caused by an object much smaller than a star and having a similar mass to Earth. Dr. McDonald explained that such microlensing is difficult to identify, which makes this discovery even more significant, as the Kepler telescope was not designed to help find planets through microlensing. What a remarkable find and kudos, Dr. Iain McDonald and co-researchers. May discoveries such as this continue to inspire humanity, in Heaven’s guidance.
Up next, biogas technology converts water hyacinth into green energy for cooking in Kenya. We pause to admire all the personal assistants, who often work in high-intensity environments to help executives with their daily business and/or personal tasks, contributing greatly to a company’s smooth operation. Vegan side effect: don’t recognize urself? U r just younger n more beautiful!
Hallo, virtuous friends, it’s Sony the vegan baby Song Thrush! I overcome all hardships with a smile and inner peace. Being a vegan will make you tough, but serene. Become a tough vegan cookie like me! Here is a resourceful tip for you. Date marking on food labels lets you know for how long a product is safe to eat. It is true that confusing “best before” and “use by” dates can lead to more food waste. Check the “use-by” or “best before” date when you buy food. “Best-before” dates give you an idea of how long foods will last before they lose quality. Most products will last beyond their “best-before” date if they are stored properly. If eating after the date, you must check that it still smells and appears as it should. Foods marked with a “use-by” date must be consumed on or before that date. If an item is past the “use-by” date, it is no longer safe to eat. Thank you for watching. Lots of love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. Now the weather from around the world.
Water hyacinths turned into green cooking energy in Kenya.
This innovative project is a collaboration of Biogas International, a Kenyan energy technology firm, pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and the United Kingdom-based Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. Water hyacinth is a highly invasive weed and is spreading widely in Lake Victoria. It’s harmful to the aquatic ecosystem and a health risk to the local community. Biogas International and team are addressing this issue by harvesting the weeds and using them to generate eco-friendly biogas energy with digesters. Tony Otieno’s family is one of 50 in western Kenya that are using a free, project-provided digester to create biofuel to replace the conventional way of burning wood or charcoal for food preparation. Mr. Otieno said, “The gas has no smoke, no smell…” We applaud you, Biogas International, AstraZeneca, and Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, for such a brilliant solution. May the well-being of the Kenyan people continuously improve, in Divine love.
Indian city first in nation to achieve round-the-clock quality drinking water.
Puri, in the state of Odisha, is now delivering clean drinking water through household taps to over 250,000 people. The city is popular among pilgrims and tourists, so the water will also be available from 120 drinking fountains that have been installed across the municipality. By 2022, 1.5 million people in 15 urban areas in Odisha will have access to safe tap water through this state project. The Chief Minister of Odisha, the Honorable Naveen Patnaik stated, “It has been my dream to provide piped water to every household in Odisha, and this is now turning into a reality.” May Heaven bless you, the Honorable Naveen Patnaik and all involved, for helping to bring safe and clean water to the spiritual citizens of Odisha. May your dream of supplying pure water to the entire state soon be realized as the gentle residents enjoy peace-filled lives, in the grace of the Providence.
Disadvantaged children receive beds in United States.
The Las Vegas chapter of the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) has distributed 110 bunk beds to underprivileged children in Nevada, USA, to help families financially affected by the pandemic. Operated by volunteers, the organization has built approximately 60 more bunk beds to be delivered, with a goal of providing a total of 200 units by the year’s end. Each bed comes with a mattress, fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillow and pillowcase. SHP has extended nationwide and also reached Canada. The Las Vegas chapter’s co-president, Chris McDowell, said, “From a growth and an educational standpoint, it’s really imperative for those children to get a good night’s sleep… So, giving them that opportunity to have something to call their own, it lifts them and it’s a good thing.” Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s founder Luke Mickelson is a Shining World Caring Award laureate, and Supreme Master Ching Hai humbly contributed US$25,000 to SHP in 2020 to further its work. A warm thank you, Sleep in Heavenly Peace and volunteers, for your compassionate work. May kindness and unconditional help spread all over the planet, in Divine light.
Coming up, plant-based meat company’s sales expand in Russia. We’ll be right back after cleaning our closets of old clothes for donation. Vegan: even very young children understand the need 2 leave meat.
Russian vegan meat brand’s sales surge.
Welldone, a Russian alternative meat company, which offers an affordable range of plant-based mince, burger patties and cutlets, has outsold popular Beyond Meat products in Russia. The items are available across 50 Russian cities in over 500 stores, and the enterprise has just raised US$1.5 million in funding to increase its manufacturing capacity to 150 metric tons per month to meet consumer demand. The funds will also be used for future research and development as well as for new item launches. Welldone is seeking to increase its product reach internationally and is already being sold in Belarus and Kazakhstan. Earlier this year, Julia Marsel, co-founder of plant-based brand Greenwise, shared that vegan protein foods are “going from niche to mainstream” in Russia. Bravo, Welldone, on your success. May the people of Russia continue to enjoy and embrace the compassionate vegan lifestyle, in the love of the Providence.
Canines saved from underground dogfighting ring in the United States.
Ending a major illegal dogfighting network that spanned across Long Island, New York and neighboring states, authorities rescued 89 canines and arrested 10 men, who were charged with various offences, including felony animal fighting. According to Suffolk County District Attorney, the Honorable Timothy Sini, the abused dogs were kept in deplorable living conditions and suffered from various injuries, including scarring and broken teeth. Horrifically, they were bred, tortured, and trained to fight from as young as six months old. The rescued canines were transported to the emergency shelters of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and other agencies. Mr. Sini stated that a special grand jury would investigate the case and make legislative recommendations to strengthen animal protection laws. Our tearful thankfulness, the Honorable Timothy Sini, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and all involved in the rescue operation. May we always treat our beloved animal brethren with respect and kindness, in God’s benevolence.
Make sure you are not in a library, because you are about to laugh out loud with the joke of the day titled, “It’s healthy.”
A dad and his daughter went to the store to buy groceries. They had a shopping list given to them by the mom, which was very specific because they were supposed to buy only healthy items. When they got home, they got a stern look from the mom because she saw they had a big box of vegan chocolate chip cookies with them. In his defense, the husband said right away:
“Those vegan chocolate chip cookies have half of the calories than they normally would.”
“Oh, is that right?”
“Yeah, because we ate half of them already on the way here.”
