Mahatma Gandhi Ji was a beloved spiritual teacher and visionary leader of the Indian independence movement. Born in 1869, this passionate servant of humanity started out in life as a timid young lawyer. But after personally facing discrimination, he became determined to better the world and transformed into the giant for justice we know him as today. The book “Pathway to God” is a collection of some of his writings that reveal his thoughtful approach to the Divine. In its pages, we will see that Truth was his “end” and Love was his “means.” His guiding principles of selflessness, humility, nonviolent resistance, and vegetarianism are still very relevant. Any Truth seeker will find much logic, insight, and solace from Gandhi Ji’s words.

Now we would like to share with you Mahatma Gandhi Ji’s eloquent thoughts from the book “Pathway to God.” “What a great thing it would be if we in our busy lives, could retire into ourselves each day, for at least a couple of hours and prepare our minds to listen to the voice of the great Silence. The Divine Radio is always singing if we could only make ourselves ready to listen to it, but it is impossible to listen without silence.” “Silence is a great help to a seeker after Truth like myself. In the attitude of silence, the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth and the soul requires inward restfulness to attain its full height.”

“True meditation consists in closing the eyes and ears of the mind to all else except the object of one's devotion. Hence, the closing of the eyes during prayers is an aid to such concentration. Man's conception of God is naturally limited. Each one has, therefore, to think of Him as best appears to him, provided that the conception is pure and uplifting.”

“What is the mark of a man who has Rama enshrined in his heart? Such a man will take God's name with every breath. His Rama will be awake even whilst the body is asleep. Rama will be always with him in whatever he does. The real death for such a devoted man will be loss of this sacred companionship.”
