"We have all kinds of different animals here. We have a pig in the stall next to us. We have chickens, cats, just whatever needs help, we want to help. So, this barn is the barn we have for our initial intake, or special needs cases. We have Phoenix here. He has been a special needs case for quite a while. His eye had ruptured, and he was at auction and it was one of the worst eye cases I have seen. There are some times we’re (thinking) he’s not going to make it and he keeps trying. He’s very sweet. He’s very thankful for us saving him. He lets us know every day how thankful he is for us saving him. He gives us lots of love, very sweet. He’s really trying to pull through for us. He’s doing great with his recovery and his healing." "If you’ve never been around horses, I would say they are a lot like people or a lot like dogs. They each have their own individual personality and their own individual quirks and their own individual strengths and weaknesses. And I think finding their strengths, just like in people, is really rewarding, a lot of fun. I would just encourage people not just with horses but with any animal where you can give, where you can maybe experience an interaction with them. It’ll be amazing how much you grow as a person. I know I’ve grown a lot just working with animals in general and it shows you where your own weaknesses are. So I always encourage people to work with them so that they can grow as a person." We thank Tawnee Preisner and the Horse Plus Humane Society team for providing excellent shelter and comfort to our animal friends. May many people be inspired by your noble work and also be heroes to the animals.
