Zimbabwe’s Friendship Bench initiative has won the 2025–2026 KBF [King Baudouin Foundation] Africa Prize, bringing global attention to a community-based mental health model developed to address severe shortages of psychiatric care across the continent. The award, presented at the Royal Palace in Brussels [Belgium], includes a €250,000 grant and institutional support to help the program expand internationally and strengthen its integration into public health systems. Founded in 2006 by psychiatrist Dr. Dixon Chibanda, Friendship Bench trains lay health workers — many of them older women known as “Grandmothers” — to deliver structured talk therapy from simple wooden benches in clinics and community spaces (Africa Sustainability Matters)
A three-year randomized trial in southern Tanzania has found that redesigned “Star homes” can sharply reduce major childhood illnesses, with children living in the upgraded houses experiencing 44% less malaria, 30% less diarrhea, and 18% less pneumonia than those in traditional mud-and-thatch homes. The two-story, cross-ventilated structures use screened windows, self-closing doors, cleaner cooking stoves and elevated sleeping areas to limit mosquito exposure, reduce indoor smoke and improve hygiene. Researchers say the design is cheaper to build than standard cement-block houses, uses far less concrete and has a lower carbon footprint, suggesting that simple, low-cost housing improvements could deliver large public health gains as Africa undergoes rapid population growth (Gavi)
New research shows that chronic stress combined with eating over 25% of daily calories after 9 pm significantly damages gut health, increasing risks for constipation, diarrhea, and disrupted microbiome bacteria. Experts warn this combination disrupts the body’s circadian rhythm and gut-brain connection, recommending earlier, consistent mealtimes and stress reduction to protect digestive wellness (Medical News Today)

A Lund University [Sweden] study finds that high humidity prevents bird-people from cooling through evaporation during heatwaves, pushing many beyond survival limits. Global data links extreme heat events to sharp bird-people population declines, with older and weaker bird-individuals facing the greatest risk (Earth.com)
A study by an international team of researchers published in the journal Nature Climate Change finds extreme storms, not drought, are the primary driver of tree loss and shortened carbon storage across the Amazon. Researchers warn a warming climate will intensify storms, potentially reducing the Amazon’s carbon-storage capacity by up to 15% by century’s end (Earth.com)

Enlightening quote of the day: “When mind is still, then truth gets her chance to be heard in the purity of the silence.” – The Venerated Enlightened Master Sri Aurobindo (vegetarian) (BrainyQuote)
Previously, in Part 1 of a multipart series of Reverend Camille Gent’s near-death experience, Camille described how a medical crisis left her in and out of comas after massive pulmonary embolisms, countless strokes, organ shutdown, blood infections, and sepsis. She said that during her first coma, she began slipping between life and death, descending through dark realms where demonic beings tormented her and dragged her toward hell. As Part 1 ended, Camille saw 12 demons assigned to her and heard satan whispering, “Just get her down here. She’ll never know she doesn’t belong.”
Now, in Part 2, Camille says the torment grew even worse before God Hirmself intervened. And so I’m being dragged down there. I’ll never forget my arms, the shredding of my arms, and seeing the tendons and blood, but it wasn’t like gushing blood. It was just there. And then I would go to a realm, be tortured, come back out, and I was all fresh again for them. I was all fresh, where they could do it all over again. And as they’re dragging me to hell, the third realm was the worst by far. And I still — what really breaks my heart to this day is I do believe that those women that I saw in the third realm are actually there. We were chained to beds. And if you can imagine what happened after that... So this third realm was so horrific, but I ended up breaking free from this bed I was tied to with rope. And I still remember looking down on my right wrist and seeing it all the way to the bone from their assault.
The crazy thing is, you need to understand is they love teasing you. They love making you think that you’re free and then just to capture you again. They love that. And that is something that some of the most evil people on Earth do right now. That’s one of their biggest games. And that is straight from the pit of hell. So, this third realm, I escaped. I started running. As soon as I started running, it was like I fell off a cliff, and I’m falling in the outer darkness again. These demons are tearing me apart, and him, satan, is still whispering. But that’s when I actually saw satan himself.
So, as I’m going, I had to look at him. I hated it. I remember being scared to death to look at him, and I saw him, and he had the face of a wolf, the head of a wolf, a black wolf, and he had red beaming, like those beaming red eyes that could go through anything. And then his body was a lamb or sheep. And he had this wool on him that I remember there were even houses in it. There was all this slime and gunk and things caught in it, even. And I just remember thinking, that is crazy. And I asked the Lord later on. I said, “Why did he have all that?” And He said, “Because of his age.” And, obviously, because he’s evil too, but because of his age, he was just so dirty and disgusting.
And then, that’s when I said to myself, I guess I’m going to hell now. And as soon as I said that, the God of all Creation, the Maker of everything — He comes and stands above us. We felt this presence, though. I still did not know Who it was. We felt just the strongest presence that ever existed come above us, the demons and satan. And I remember knowing that presence was so powerful that I wanted to see these other beings, the demonic beings that had all my will basically, I wanted to see what they were going to do in this presence. So, I immediately looked down, and they were gone, just from Him coming above us. And He started speaking, and the words He said were, “I don’t think so.” And then, that was fulfilling, honestly, everything I prayed for in Psalm 30. He comes with His mighty right hand and just picks me up in the palm of His hand. Picks me up, and then I remember going like this, and going up, up, up, back to Earth. And then I remember going into my body, and I go, “What just happened?”
Back in her hospital bed, Camille says she became aware of the medical equipment hooked up around her. So, I immediately heard all those machines going crazy. And I said, “Oh yeah, I’m in the hospital.” Just as I said that, the ceiling turned to clouds. Beautiful, poofy clouds. And then I saw this mighty right hand again come out of the clouds. He grabs inside me, and I remember, as soon as I start lifting up, my spirit starts coming out of my body. I remember saying to myself, I had all this power on Earth, but wherever this being wants me to go, I’m going. And still not knowing yet Who He was, and He takes me, and then eternity hit me.
And I had a tall angel, like a huge angel, come up, swoop up underneath me, each cusp, but they weren’t even touching me. It was very, it’s hard to explain. But they went like about like that. And they just, each one on each side. And I went swoosh. And I remember always loving outer space, always loving the stars and Star Wars and all that kind of stuff when I was young. And so I thought that was the coolest thing. But the funny thing is, you don’t just go through there slowly. It’s not a sightseeing mission, like I often say. It was fast. It was quick. And I remember trying to see their faces because I could see their beautiful white robes, and they had gold. It was crusted in gold, and they had all these different markings on it, with the lining of it. And I just remember thinking they were so amazing.
In Part 3, after the angels carried Camille through outer space, she says they dropped her beneath a bright, city-like place. And they dropped me right below it. I still go like that to try to see them. And they were gone. And then, all of a sudden, I start ascending up. And then I heard the Father’s voice for the very first time, and He said, “You no longer have to fear.” Join us tomorrow for Part 3 of a multipart series of Reverend Camille Gent’s near-death experience.
