In today’s news, Kenya receives support for pandemic response, World Bank approves more funds for Bangladesh, Tongan islands double their solar power capacity, French company develops enzyme for recycling plastic, vegan attorney launches weekly online talk show, supermarkets in Switzerland display meat-free products, and Saudi Arabian city ensures homeless cats have food and water.

Investments from Europe boost Kenya’s response to COVID-19.

Denmark, Finland and Sweden partnered with the European Union to supply €1.8 million for a new water and sanitation system in the African nation. Public health agencies and volunteers will install communal handwashing facilities with soap in places like shopping centers, wellness facilities and police stations. The government also intends to promote awareness of ways the coronavirus can be transmitted, and estimates that almost 120,000 people in 25 counties will benefit from the initiative. Kenya is a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion and Protection laureate. Additionally, the European Union is a Shining World Leadership Award for Peace recipient, and a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, Unconditional World Care, and True Caring laureate. We gratefully applaud your generosity, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and the European Union! May Kenya’s caring government and God-loving people be blessed with protection and peace in the benevolent light of the Divine.

World Bank finances three relief projects in Bangladesh.

US$350 million in new grants will address the needs of native host communities together with displaced Rohingya in Cox’s Bazar. Two existing programs will receive an infusion of US$100 million each. One focuses on energy, water, sanitation and disaster-resilient infrastructure for about 780,000 people. The other is a safety net arrangement that provides livelihoods and income support to vulnerable households. The remaining US$150 million will fund a new Health and Gender Support Project, which will give 3.6 million individuals access to health, nutrition and family planning services. Our accolades and gratitude, World Bank and the welcoming citizens of Bangladesh, for your caring actions to safeguard the well-being of the gentle Rohingya. May they soon enjoy stable and fulfilling lives, in the sheltering embrace of the Providence.

Up next, Tonga supported in green energy development. We’ll take a moment now to thank the cardiologists, who specialize in heart conditions and are increasingly prescribing a plant-based diet for treatment and prevention. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more gladdening news.

Hooray, treasured friends! It’s me, Laffy the Saola, and I’ve been vegan since before I was born. I have a safety tip for you today. I know many of you have been wearing disposable gloves to keep your hands germ-free. But did you know there’s a proper way to take them off? This is important because if you’re not careful, you can defeat the purpose of putting them on in the first place. Here’s what you do: Pinch the outside of one glove near the wrist. Pull it away from the wrist, towards the fingers, turning it inside out. Once it’s off your hand, you may hold it with your other hand. Now, using your bare hand, slide a finger or two under the cuff of the remaining glove, making sure you don’t touch the exterior surface. Continue pushing it towards the fingers and over the first glove, so that one is inside the other. Finally, discard both in an appropriate bin. Thank you for watching and love you for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet thus save the world! Now, the weather around the globe.

Kingdom of Tonga invests in renewable, reliable and affordable energy.

With financial assistance from the Green Climate Fund, Asian Development Bank and the government of Australia, the South Pacific country has awarded contracts for two solar power projects to New Zealand-based Infratec and sister company NetCon. The joint-venture partners will initially build photovoltaic arrays and distribution networks on five remote outer islands, and will also install electrical wiring for homes and community buildings. Their second undertaking will be to design and construct facilities for electricity generation and battery storage on the islands of ‘Eua and Vava’u, thus doubling their current capacity. Through these initiatives Tonga is pursuing its goals of 50% renewable energy by the end of 2020 and 70% by 2030. Kudos – Kingdom of Tonga, contractors and contributors. May your pure and serene citizens always be in touch with Heaven’s gracious guidance.

Researchers evolve a better enzyme for degrading plastic.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a ubiquitous material with nearly 70 million metric tons manufactured annually, primarily for bottles, clothing and food containers. Conventional thermomechanical recycling of PET changes its strength and prevents it from being used again for bottles. Enzymatic degradation, until now, was a lengthy and impractical process. But in a major advance, scientists from the company Carbios and the Université de Toulouse, both in France, mutated an existing enzyme to improve its efficiency and stability at high temperatures. When it was tested on a metric ton of used plastic bottles, 90% of the PET was depolymerized within 10 hours. Carbios has formed strategic partnerships with PepsiCo, Nestlé Waters and others to accelerate development, and plans to reach its goal of industrial-scale PET recycling within five years. Amazing news, Carbios and the Université de Toulouse! May your biological wizardry aid the transition to a circular economy that prevents pollution from ever harming our precious God-given planet again.

“Laws That Matter” debuts on Jane Unchained News Network.

Award-winning vegan attorney, Carissa Kranz, based in Florida, USA, has launched her own weekly talk show on the social media news platform created by fellow vegan, Jane Velez-Mitchell, a Shining World Vegan Journalist Award recipient. On Wednesdays at noon EST, Carissa discusses current events and legal news of interest to the plant-based community with thought leaders on the front lines. Viewers are encouraged to join the conversation via the comments chat. According to Carissa, “Animals should not be discriminated against because they cannot speak for themselves. We are supposed to have equal protection under the law. Laws are intended to protect all beings, not just human beings. These are the Laws That Matter.” Our compliments and heartfelt gratitude, Carissa Kranz, for your ongoing essential activism for the animals. May unconditional benevolence soon become the guiding standard for all people on our elevated planet.

Coming up, supermarkets in Switzerland display meat-free products. Let’s take time out now to intentionally connect with the subtle magnetism of Mother Earth and align our thoughts with the Divine. More valuable news when we return! Please stay with us here on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Heartening News for an Uplifting World.

German global supermarket chain expands Selection of veg options in Switzerland.

In response to consumer demand, Germany’s Lidl in Switzerland has been growing its meat-free category since 2019 when it introduced its private label Next Level Meat. In addition, 53 stores experimented with installing an exclusive section called a “veggie block,” where patrons can find all the plant-based products on their shopping lists, such as meat substitutes, ready-made salads, non-dairy milks and yogurt alternatives. Positive feedback and increased sales have shown that people appreciate the new merchandising, and so the company plans to apply the strategy in the rest of its over 140 outlets throughout the country. What an inspired concept, Lidl Switzerland – making it easier for your health-conscious customers to connect with the animal-free nutrition they want. May your specialty veggie blocks develop into entire stores that are vegan-friendly, in Celestial celebration.

Municipality in Saudi Arabia launches initiative to feed homeless animals.

The waterfront in Al-Khobar, bordering the Persian Gulf, is usually a vibrant part of the city, but it has been mostly deserted since the outbreak of COVID-19. Feral felines who used to be fed by visitors have been struggling to survive. But with support from local residents, the city has started a Food of Mercy program, installing more than 60 food and water dispensers throughout the area. Commenting on the service, the mayor of Al-Khobar, the Honorable Sultan bin Hamid Al-Zaidi, said, “The initiative comes in compliance with the merciful teachings of Islam that demand us to show mercy to all living creatures.” Our hearts are touched by your compassion, the Honorable Sultan bin Hamid Al-Zaidi and citizens of Al-Khobar. May the peaceful people of Saudi Arabia be spiritually blessed as our world is transformed, in Allah’s boundless love. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully present the Honorable Sultan bin Hamid Al-Zaidi and the city of Al-Khobar the Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion, with high esteem, respect and much gratitude for your benevolent program, in Heaven’s mercy and love.”

Let’s have a little chuckle together with our joke of the day entitled, “Following Instructions. Any improvement since I last saw you?

Yes, doctor. After I received your prescription, my headache was cured!

I’m glad the medication was effective! How many pills did you take each day?

I didn’t take any pills.

Then how did your headache disappear?

The instructions on the label said: “Keep away from children.” So I sent my kids to their grandma, and my headache was gone!
